Looks
like a Brazilian vacation was all Pope Francis needed to lighten up. "If
someone is gay and he searches for the Lord and has goodwill, who am I
to judge?" Francis said on a plane returning from his
week-long trip to Brazil. A reporter had asked about a Vatican monsignor who had reportedly engaged in homosexual activities. "I have yet to find anyone who has a business card that says he is gay," the pope added. While it's not a glowing acceptance of gays ("They say they exist"), it's a momentous statement. Pope Benedict XVI said that gays should not be priests.
